The hotel.

Old Abbey House has been a major part of Abingdon’s history all the way back to the 18th century. This Grade II listed house was originally owned in the 1700s by a leading Abingdon-based businessman, followed by the Mayor of Abingdon: E. J Trendell. Old Abbey House overlooks the beautifully maintained Abbey Gardens that were once home to the historic Abingdon Abbey.

Old Abbey House now operates as a beautiful self check-in hotel proudly managed by The Edge Hotel Group. We offer a unique experience like no other. Old Abbey House Hotel is a home away from home that combines traditional charm and luxurious modern amenities; head over to our accommodation page to view our 27 individually designed rooms and suites.

To this day.

Acquired from Vale of White Horse District Council in 2020, local property developer, Ede Holdings Ltd, sought to sympathetically restore key historical features such as stained-glass windows, original brickwork and ornate fireplaces. We have given a new lease of life to this stunning building which can now be admired and appreciated by all.

Every detail and choice made during the design process pays homage to the rich history of the building whilst also embracing the possibilities of the future. The outcome is a seamless blend of tradition and true luxury, creating an unforgettable experience for guests.
